The road ahead

Over the coming months, we hope you will join us and provide feedback on the proposed mission, values, and strategic goals for the GSIDD. This society belongs to all of us, and your input is essential to ensure it meets the diverse needs of researchers, practitioners, and educators worldwide.

We don't anticipate us being a traditional professional society with a journal and annual meeting (at least not yet). There is an entire ecosystem that already exists within the modeling community that provides collaboration networks, training opportunities, stakeholder engagement. We want to learn from these ongoing activities on a global scale and help build more connectivity within the community. We then want to fill some of the engagement and capacity gaps that exist. Beyond that, the sky's the limit! Here is the timeline we are planning for, in three initial phases:

Here are some of the next steps we'll be working towards with your help:

• Late 2025: Launch and dissemination of website through existing IDD organizations and networks

• February 2026: Official launch of the Global Society for Infectious Disease Dynamics

• March 2026: We'll launch our first set of activities

• Late 2026: Establishment of formal membership process

This is just the beginning. The society's ultimate form and function will depend on the engagement and contributions of everyone in the community.
